MILES Student Toolbox

The present toolbox aims to provide a broad variety of carefully selected media and information literacy (MIL) resources – innovative teaching and learning materials and activity descriptions – in order to equip educators with the tools to improve students’ critical thinking especially in online environments. 

The toolbox contains learning materials – worksheets, assessments – as well as full lesson plans for teaching different disciplines in secondary education, in order to exemplify amply how to hone MIL-related competencies while also building subject-matter specific competencies. These resources have been tested and found to work well in real classrooms in diverse curricular contexts in the partners’ countries, as well as in non-formal education settings. The fact that they have been tested should vouch for their transferability into new settings or at least for their potential to inspire MIL learning in and outside of school curricula. 

MILES Student Toolbox

The toolbox is intended for the use of educators, including teacher educators, teaching various school disciplines, or facilitating youth learning in diverse school-based or out-of-school contexts. The learning materials could also be used directly by students, individually or in learner communities, although – given the social nature of MIL learning – they would prove more effective if encountered in an educator-facilitated context.
