Analysis of the current situation in assessing teachers' competences upon completion of accredited in-service teacher training programs in Romania
The material was elaborated by Maria Kovacs, Romanian RWCT Association, within the Promoting authentic assessment in the Romanian in-service teacher training system Project and it contains the results of the analysis of the current situation in the field of assessment of Romanian teachers’ competences targeted in accredited training programs.
The material introduces
- the results of an analysis of policy documents with reference to the assessment of teachers’ competences developed in the course of in-service teacher training programs in Romania in order to identify the expectations of the in-service training system in this respect and
- the analysis of the current practices (collected via a focus group and a survey among training providers) in assessment used by accredited teacher-training providers in Romania.

Based on the analysis of the current situation in Romania concerning the assessment of teachers’ competences upon completion of accredited in-service teacher training programs and on the conclusions upon testing an innovative approach to authentic assessment involving action research, the Romanian RWCT Association stated recommendations to the major stakeholders in the Romanian in-service teacher training system.
