Integration and Diversity in Education in Europe (IDEE)
The project Integration and Diversity in Education in Europe (IDEE) is implemented within the programme Europe for Citizens, in partnership with Open Society Foundation London (UK), Integrated Education Fund Belfast (UK), Interkulturelles Zentrum Vienna (AT), Life e.V. Berlin (DE), Wide Open School Foundation Žiar nad Hronom (SK).

Duration: 1 January – 31 December 2010
Target groups: (in Romania)
- 150 Roma highschool students (aged 17-19);
- 30 mentors of the highschool students;
- 20 school principals;
- 6 school inspectors;
- regional and national level policy-makers.
Goals and objectives: Giving citizens with the opportunity to interact and participate in constructing a tighter-knit Europe, which is democratic and world-oriented, united and enriched by its cultural diversity, thus developing citizenship of the European Union; Fostering a sense of ownership of the European Union among its citizens.
Types of activities: consultation with students; training for mentors to organize Citizens’ Panels; organizing and conducting Citizens’ Panels; case studies to analyze outcomes of debates; dissemination of results.
Deliverables and outcomes:
- a collection of specific issues that students want to address in the Citizens’ panels;
- one training seminar for mentors to facilitate Citizens’ Panel (curriculum, delivery, evaluation);
- at least 12 citizens’ panels at local or county level;
- a collection of at least 5 case studies analyzing findings from the debates.
